The following steps outline a plan for cleaning your filter for proper maintenance and should be performed on a quarterly basis:
- Remove filter from housing.
- With a garden hose, thoroughly rinse filter from top to bottom and in between all pleats to remove loose dirt and debris.
- Use a chemical filter cleaner (e.g., Spa Essentials Filter Cleaner) to remove grease, oil, and scale.
- Rinse, rinse, rinse...
- Allow filter to air-dry before reinstalling. (Drying allows filter fibers to regain their original shape thus ensuring optimum performance.)
Many spa users find it convenient to use two filters on a rotating basis. While one is being cleaned and dried, the other can be used.
